As has already been posted, players at this event have a choice between two different types of eye protection: 1) Any APEL-approved model. APEL (Army Protective Eyewear List): peosoldier.army.mil/pmseq/eyewearmessage.asp If you want to wear sunglasses-style eye protection, they MUST BE ON THE APEL/ 2) Any ANSI Z87.1-rated FULL SEAL goggle. As noted in the APEL message linked above, ANSI-rated does not mean it provides the complete required protection, in this case protection from side-impact. If your eye protection is marked with the Z87.1 rating and has padding or a seal that reaches from the goggle to your face, you're good. Normal shooting glasses or sunglasses are NOT sufficient. If you do not arrive with an approved set of eye protection, you will not be playing. You could try to run to Wal-Mart in JC to try to get some, but you won't be playing until you have approved eye protection. Additionally, your donations will not be refunded because you were told repeatedly of the standards. If you have any questions, post them here. If you are not me, please don't tell someone their eye protection is approved, because at the end of the day that's my call. It is important to note if they're APEL (automatically approved), ANSI (possibly approved) or non-ANSI (automatically disapproved).

Are Mesh Goggles (ie: Bugz) allowed?

I myself just bought ESS, due to being Military rated, though they keep cranking out new models all the time, from ICE to Crossbow and soon they'll have the new one, name escapes me. Oddly the only difference according to ESS is the frames. They stand by their lenses. Even getting RX insert and lenses for mine.

Mesh goggles are allowed, but must be full-seal. Store-purchased, designed-for-airsoft, are automatically good.
Home made are subject to approval. You must be able to demonstrate how they meet the requirement of: 13.4 Full Seal Eye Pro or APEL Eye Pro must be worn on the Area of Operation at all times. Microwave lenses and Mesh Goggles are allowed. Eye protection should be ANZI Z87.1 compliant or better.

hey capt. what about Milspec glasses, I know the ICE was APEL until the Crossbow came out. I know the Ice still says you can get the RX insert at Aid stations. lol. and they ARE MIL-PRF-31013. or ANSI Z87.1+
I only ask cause I bought my RX inserts for them. and since I don't keep up on APEL anymore I didn't realize they'd gone over to the crossbows.

If they are full seal and ANSI rated, but I don't specifically know what you're talking about.
