First off.. Hats off to the admin staff, you guys were friendly and any questions we had were answered promptly. You all did a great job and I look forward to the improvement I know will be made off of this year's experience.
As for my AAR:
Insurgents... well, we as a group looked more like PCs. I think our group was hoping for a little bit more getting into the role. That starts with appearance. Something to keep in mind for next year. It was fun slingin' plastic with you all.
First hour of the game... AWESOME. That fight at the US's FOB was one of the best firefights ive ever been in during my years of airsoft. Hats off to the US forces, you guys used your numerical superiority and surrounded us. Though I am surprised we lasted as long as we did. The gameplay was pretty good after this despite downtime in which we sat around in UC Alpha guarding against an attack that never came till after the ceasefire. Got some good fighting in there despite bashing my knee out on a rock. My gripe was the ending of the op on sunday. The almost open play like ending I understand was to get shooting time in, but kinda spoiled the whole milsim aspect of the game, least on my end. I understand why it was done though.
I will return next year, especially if we are allowed to use this AO again!

I suppose I should throw my $.02 in. It'll probably seem like mostly negative, but my experience wasn't as negative as it sounds, just giving my constructive criticism from someone who also runs an OP (6th year for a private/invite only op, made that way because of the location played on.) The first thing I noticed off the bat, was organization and communication. I found a lot of good information on the forums about the op, but some of it was hidden, and not as easily accessible, or contradictory. (For instance, one place says any US forces can wear any of the listed types of wear, but elsewhere says QRF can only wear DCU.) Communication fits in with this as well as the communication between admins, and from admin to players, command to army, and squadmate to squadmate was all often poor. (the squadmate to squadmate is more on the player than anyone else there.) I served on QRF, and on the first battle, we were sent out around the FOB to try to take from the rear when the main army attacked, but we never had any communication from command that any attack commenced, and there was never an answer on the command radio though we tried for 20 minutes. (We sat in the field for over 40 minutes waiting, until the insurgents ended up coming to US.) Then, another time, I asked 3 different admins if ammo was around, the first 2 telling me no, and the third telling me yes, and pointing me to the HUMVEE it was in. Better communication would have helped me reload my SAW, and get me back into the thick of things (as I was respawned, but waiting on ammo), and possibly would have caused less downtime for ARMY personnel sitting around waiting. This was likely the single most problematic point I saw. Especially since there was little to no communication about whether we could get on base after 8pm on friday or not, thus causing us to postpone our drive out till starting at 10pm (heading from St Louis, MO) to arrive at 'opening', only to find out we could have arrived anytime. (one of our squad said we couldn't get out on base after 8pm, and there was no information on the boards at all we could find.) Thus causing me only 3 hours sleep thursday night/friday morning, then driving all night friday night to arrive on Sat and start playing. Another thing that would have helped would have been instead of a bucket for ammo for a squad, instead have a box that has not just ammo, but extra things. (Batteries, gas, snacks, and water) to help minimize downtime of going back to camp, as well as allowing us to better deal with trash. (I know a lot of airsofters left trash out in the connex buildings.. shame on you, leaving that for the admins to clean up.) Unfortunately, another humvee to take care of that would have helped a lot, but I know that wasn't necessarily possible. we were lucky to get what we did. Heat was nearly unbearable, sadly an uncontrollable situation, thanks to the necessity to hold the OP during a time it doesn't conflict with other OPs in the year, though the early morning start on Sunday made a huge difference, and helped out a lot. We got a lot of good play in that day, and it kept the heat casualties to a minimum. (My 3 hours of sleep in 48 hours helped contribute to me dropping out of the game for the rest of Saturday after the taking of the FOB, thankfully, I recognized the signs long before I needed to have anyone else take action, and managed to keep it under control, thus not adding to the tally. Wish we could have had the night games, but I know how it is. Lawyers, Amiright?) Limitations on dealing with the uphill battles would have helped somewhat. Given all 4 bases, I don't think we could have taken them all with the forces we had, and kept them all, while still attacking for Fallujah. Heck, gaining ground on ANY of the cities was nigh impossible for a squad, because the open fields were too large for the range of airsoft guns. (plus, Fallujah at least had some buildings with screen over the windows, that kept us from taking out enemy snipers, and they used this to their advantage A LOT.) (granted, I did manage to sneak up a hill 3/4 of the way to a connex tower before I was sniped out, but sadly, I was one man, and I had no diversions I could count on to make the rest of the way to the tower without being seen) regardless, I had a blast, and would like to do it again. I love the limit on ammo, because it actually makes my SAW a useful tool on the battlefield, otherwise, whynot just rock an MP5k with a drum mag, and a high output motor/battery setup? Also, the teams, and the ideas of things like suicide bombers, and the EOD and civilians were all awesome. the vehicles were nice, though the insurgents took advantage of being able to surround and attack them made them problematic, maybe next time use them as decoys, and such.) Also, it's pretty cool to have both Admins, and some of the army volunteers asking to look at your M60 and realizing that it's almost real-steel weight, and saying they wouldn't wanna try and huck that thing around all day, and then realize that you are the one doing it. Great job guys, I know how hard it is to put together, and organize such an event, and want to say that you guys managed to do an amazing job, and that I had fun, even with having to drop out half a day due to heat, and sleep deprivation. I hope I can make it next year, and that maybe we will be able to bring out our custom made APC ('78 Dodge Powerwagon with a custom built bed for troop transport.) If any of you guys are in the St Louis area, or just want to chat us up, pop onto www.6mmwarfare.com, we're always glad to talk to other airsofters from around everywhere.

I hope you didn't mean me. I shot someone who popped around the corner in the head, but i was outside and alone, and it hit the thick of the shegmah so the person said they were fine.

Bandit, it was me you shot outside and everything was cool. Your gun must have been really low on fps cuz I barely felt it. Sorry to have scared you when I popped around the corner....lol

I learned a lot from this game guys and future OPs will not have these problems. But as with any change to the game, other problems form. This was a new format this year and all we can do is tweak it from there. As for the comms problems, there's only so many channels and I will find a better way to correct it next time. US Command was non-existent because of the changes that were done on Saturday and the replacement CO had to leave because of an emergency. The Admin issue will be strongly addressed next time. Thank you all for coming out and supporting the Wounded Warrior Project!

Next year - hardware and personnel permitting - I think we'll try to retrans the two team command nets to help with comms.
